Aaron: I have had Gnarly Head Zin in restaurants before and was excited to finally add it to the blog. As a fan of old vine wines I am happy to report this lived up to my expectations. The nose features dark blackberries and raspberry coupled with a nice black cherry. These flavors are mirrored in the smooth flavor which was full but not overly bold. I found it to be relatively crisp for a red wine, featuring mild tannins and elegant berries. The finish was rich and gentle leaving a relaxed, enjoyable sensation on the palate. For this price, I give it an A+. 93 points
Teri: This is a good Zinfandel for a nice price. The nose held strong dark fruits with a slight acidity to it. The flavor is very bold with medium semi-smooth tannins. When it hits the mouth I received a punch of dark fruit flavors then a slight hint of sweetness followed by a slowly receding finish. There was a slight bitterness to the finish upon first opening the bottle, but let it sit and aerate for a while and this will dissipate. 88 points
