Eye Candy Merlot 2009

Total Wine & More, $5.99

Aaron:  Stare deep into your computer and you’ll see my not  amused face in response to the “punny” label.  Fortunately the wine was pretty decent.  It had a tight, earthy smell with black currant and a smooth flavor.  While a bit too thin, it had a great finish! A gentle swallow featuring fruits and some citrus coated berries made this easy to drink and good for newbies.  91 points

Teri: Aside from the cartoon label, there is nothing juvenile about this wine. A strong nose of raspberry makes way to a pleasant medium mellow taste. Starting with some spice this soon blends out to round raspberry and red apple flavors. The versatility of this bottle would go well with many dishes and please a variety of wine drinkers. 90 points
