Black Sheep Cabernet Sauvignon 2011

Local purchase from Murphys, CA

Aaron:  This was an interesting bottle and my first from the Murphy’s area.  I noted an oaky pepper on the nose with some cinnamon while black currant comprised most of the flavor.  I felt this was a little bitter with prominent tannins and earthy tones and wasn’t my favorite but it’s always nice to try something new.  85 points

Teri: This medium bodied cabernet sauvignon has a spicy oak and tannic smell with berry undertones. I found it to be a little potent at first with heavy berry/oak flavors, but it filled out to a full and mellow, smooth finish. The tannins are noticeable and chunky and the overall flavor carries unique characteristics of the minerals in the local soil. 86 points
