Oak Ridge Ancient Vine Zinfandel 2012

Purchased from the Oak Ridge Tasting Room in Lodi, $13
Total Wine & More, 11.99

Aaron:  Wow, lots of fruit on the smell with crisp bark and a slight kick of pepper at the end – very familiar for Lodi Zins.  I found the body to be extremely flavorful though the bottle could use some more aging.  The creamy texture with backberries throughout made for an oblong flavor that elongated in the mouth.  Long and lingering, there were some noticeable tannins which were surely dissipate with age.  92 points

Teri: This zinfandel has a lighter nose with hints of berry and spice. Though the flavor was tight at first, this bottle opened up slowly over time to creamy and smooth characteristics with a lingering blackberry finish. The berry flavor is nice and full but I feel with another year or two in the bottle the tannins and true characteristics would become even better. 91 points
