Beringer Founders Estate Merlot 2010

Total Wine & More, $6.47

Aaron:  Oaky vines wrapped around the nose, carrying notes of almond with them.  There was lots of hazelnut chocolate, similar to Nutella on the flavor.  Some strawberry and mocha molded nicely making this easy to drink but not too complex.  Having said that, there was a noticeably different swallow than mouth flavor, adding some notes of smoke.  89 points

Teri: Beringer’s Founders’ Estate Merlot has a pleasant dark fruit smell of blackberries with a fruit forward taste of dark cherries, blackberries, and tobacco smoke. Long and full tannins on the finish with lingering oak. The full flavor will go well with hearty meat meals. Nothing spectacular but pleasant. 86 points
