Fair Oaks Ranch Zinfandel 2012

Fair Oaks Ranch ZinHeartwood and Oak, $14.99

Teri: We tried a new “wine club” style group to see if they had any quality wines to offer. From this bottle, we haven’t been too impressed so far. This Zinfandel was quite a light ruby color, looked almost like a pinot noir. The growing region, as indicated on the label (California), means the grapes can come from anywhere in the state–sometimes creating a different or muddled characteristics to the wine; this one was no exception. I tasted light cherry and unripe flavors with more of a coastal and very young flavors. Nothing really special or anything I look for in a Zinfandel. 84 points
