Butternut Chardonnay 2014

Purchased from Cost Plus World Market, $15.99 ($11.49 sale)

Total Wine & More, $12.29

Aaron:  This has a nutty, buttery nose (Teri chose the bottle and I didn’t see the name when I made my tasting notes).  There were lots of pecans and cashews with a little buttermilk on the finish.  This reminded me of creamy citrus and olive oil.  90 points

Teri: Other than stone fruits and rose petals on the nose, this bottle lives up to its name. Buttery full Chardonnay, especially on the finish. Flavors of vanilla, peaches, apple pie and cream fill your palate from start to finish. Overall, delightful (especially if buttery chards are your thing)! 92 points

MorningSide Chardonnay 2015

Purchased from Lot 18

Aaron: This is a winner for me!  Guava was brushed with honey on the nose and the flavor is super rich and creamy.  An overwhelming amount of butter and orange peel are exactly what I love in my Chardonnays and I enjoyed the pineapple and avocado oil on the finish.  this is really rich and very good.  92 points

Teri: This is a nicely rounded Chardonnay. I smell melon on the nose with flavors of buttery honey and cantaloupe on the body of the wine along with an abundance of papaya. There is also a slight mineral flavor on the long finish. 89 points.

Ad Lib Treehugger No Oak Chardonnay 2011

Ad Lib TreehuggerWorld Market, $19.99

Aaron: I thought this had a really nice pineapple and citrus nose with a lighter flavor of sweet mandarines and honey…lots of honey.  The metallic, steel aftertaste wasn’t my favorite, making this pretty good but not amazing.  89 points.

Teri: This wine puts two things I love together: unoaked chardonnay and Western Australia. This wine carries flavors of red apple, peach, and a slightly metallic finish with honeydew.  Its body rivals that of standard oaked chardonnays but is still crisp and refreshing. Nothing overly stunning but a great easy drinking enjoyable white, plus a humorous name. 89 points

Elun Chardonnay 2015

Aaron:  This was pretty good with green apple and guava on the surprisingly strong nose.  The flavor was smooth and creamy with some nuts – mostly almond – and white fruit.  I felt this was solid, not “amazing”, but enjoyable.  90 points

Teri: This Chardonnay from Chile is very smooth, easy to drink and bursting with flavor! The peach and honey nose is delightful alongside its medium body and flavors of ripe peach, pineapple, and green apple. There is also a slight undertone of vanilla and honey on the finish. 91 points

Aaron:  This had a nice nose which wasn’t too bright and featured mostly dull melon.  I liked the vanilla flavors mixed with some light bark and white berries.  Overall the taste sat well on the palate.   90 points

Teri: This was a smooth, easy to drink Chardonnay. The nose smelled of vanilla lemon and cantaloupe cream while the body of the wine carried flavors of warm creamy butter with lemon, toasted almond and balanced out with mineral tastes on the finish. 89 points
