Aaron: I thought this had a really nice pineapple and citrus nose with a lighter flavor of sweet mandarines and honey…lots of honey.  The metallic, steel aftertaste wasn’t my favorite, making this pretty good but not amazing.  89 points.

Teri: This wine puts two things I love together: unoaked chardonnay and Western Australia. This wine carries flavors of red apple, peach, and a slightly metallic finish with honeydew.  Its body rivals that of standard oaked chardonnays but is still crisp and refreshing. Nothing overly stunning but a great easy drinking enjoyable white, plus a humorous name. 89 points

Aaron:  This was pretty good with green apple and guava on the surprisingly strong nose.  The flavor was smooth and creamy with some nuts – mostly almond – and white fruit.  I felt this was solid, not “amazing”, but enjoyable.  90 points

Teri: This Chardonnay from Chile is very smooth, easy to drink and bursting with flavor! The peach and honey nose is delightful alongside its medium body and flavors of ripe peach, pineapple, and green apple. There is also a slight undertone of vanilla and honey on the finish. 91 points

Aaron:  This had a nice nose which wasn’t too bright and featured mostly dull melon.  I liked the vanilla flavors mixed with some light bark and white berries.  Overall the taste sat well on the palate.   90 points

Teri: This was a smooth, easy to drink Chardonnay. The nose smelled of vanilla lemon and cantaloupe cream while the body of the wine carried flavors of warm creamy butter with lemon, toasted almond and balanced out with mineral tastes on the finish. 89 points

Aaron:  I really liked this one.  Melon and beechwood along with sand and some banana made for a unique nose and the flavor was full and creamy.  White and yellow stone fruits are pleasant flavors while a hint of citrus sneaks in at the end.  The taste is mostly in the back, roof of your mouth and lingers for a good while.  91 points

Teri: South Africa is a great up and coming region for wines. This Chardonnay has a mixture of floral and vegetable flavors on the nose. The wine tastes quite different from the smell; flavors of green apple, lychee, and smooth butter and cream on the finish. A great blend of fruit and cream with a medium body and bright acidity but not overwhelming. 90 points

Goose Ridge Vineyards Chardonnay 2012

Goose Ridge Chardonnay 2012Purchased from the Goose Ridge Tasting Room, $26

Featured on Great NorthWest Wines

Aaron: The smell on this chard was bright, featuring lime, grapefruit, and bright lights.  The flavor was totally different; full and buttery with a long, lingering citrus finish.  Rocky peaches and only a bit of oak led to a slightly more earthy ending but this was still pleasant.  89 points

Teri: Full known bias here….I LOVE buttery chardonnay. Don’t let the creamy lemon nose fool you, at first taste flavors of butter, cream and a slight hint of peach fill you palate. Goose Ridge makes a classic smooth and buttery chardonnay that is a must try. The “real housewives” would swoon over this one. 91 points
