Vivino Info

Aaron: Mango banana nose with vanilla and chamomile.  This was very complex and the flavor was bursting with fruits, nuts, and honey.  It finished with a pleasant, silky butter.   This was really good in my opinion with tropical fruits but cashew nuts and a bit of floral notes for complexity.  Different flavors on the palate and the nose but overall, really impressed.  92 points

Teri: Bogle knows how to make great wine in mass quantity and their Phantom Chardonnay is no different. According to Vinvino, this is rated in the top 2% of wines and I would have to agree. This bottle is delicious! Buttery nose and flavor mixed with stone fruit, vanilla, and a hint of underripe mango. If you like buttery Chardonnay, then stock up. If you don’t, there is still quite a bit to appreciate about this bottle. Smooth and full mouthfeel with a long lingering finish. I would pair this with creamy sauces, fish, citrus-flavored dishes or any good or bad day you may be having. 92 points

Aaron:  Bogle is always my go-to for affordable, easy-to-find bottles.  This Petite Sirah features plum and molasses with dark fruit on the nose.  There are cherries, blackberries, and tar on the huge flavor.  This is a big wine with some tannins, but enough fruit, cedar, and moss to remain pleasant.  89 points

Teri: Chocolate covered raspberry smell on the wine, almost jammy. Jelly flavors also full the taste along with bing cherry and raspberry. This Petite Sirah is very fruit forward with a backbone of smooth oak and noticeable but mild tannins. Great flavors and great go-to and easy to find. 92 points

Wine Searcher Info

Aaron:  The bright, floral nose of this white featured lemongrass.  This led to a crisp flavor of noticeable citrus and yellow nectarines.  There was a hint of white tree bark and overall this was easy drinking and pretty good.  89 points

Teri: This white has almost no legs, which made me skeptical if it was going to have any body to it. The wine smells of peach and other stone fruits. The taste was diversely different from the nose; Flavors of lemon, green apple, pear and a hint of more citrus on the finish. Dry but still full of flavor. 90 points Crisp and refreshing.

Sinha Petitie Sirah 2014

Sinha Petite SirahLot 18/The Tasting Room, $18/bottle

Vivino Info

Aaron: This was a big miss!  I really like Lot 18 but if you have a choice of bottles, skip this one.  The bulky pepper and spice nose was mixed with stale mushrooms and dark earth.  Tar and molasses clouded the palate with heavy, chalky tannins.  I love petite syrahs, but this one left an aftertaste of over-ripe plum and black sand.  Skip this one.  82 points

Teri: Don’t bother with this bottle. It smells nice but has chalky tannins and a bitter finish mixed with raspberry and oak flavors. There are some underlying flavors which are good, but the chalky tannins overpower anything decent in this bottle. 82 points
