Aaron: Drink this wine with food.  It’s really not great as a standalone in my opinion but went great with a nice flavorful cheese.  The bright oak and small, red berries gave me a sense of youth while charred tobacco leaves added some complexity.  I noticed some maple syrup on the nose which was an interesting change but unfortunately, the flavor was not as full as the smell.  A little too much chalkiness is why this wine needs food and the flavor escaped too quickly for my preference.  87 alone, 90 with food.

Teri: This is a hearty but easy to drink bottle. I enjoyed the sweet blackberry flavors with a subtle hint of cedar and firm but smooth tannins and a bit of black pepper. Not too complex but delicious. Bring this one to that dinner party or give as a gift to a friend who enjoys wine. 90 points

The Rogue Wave Pinot Blanc 2014

Vivino Website Information

Aaron: This white featured a mellow, soft nose which was hard to make out.  Mostly lemon and vanilla on the flavor with a hint of macadamia nuts.  This was bit too tart for my liking but had a fuller flavor than most whites which I enjoyed.  88 points

Teri: I first noticed the extremely slow legs on this wine, indicating a good body for a white wine. Flavors of peach and toasted almonds mirror its smell of creamy honeydew and peach. An underlying flavor of oak and mineral was present throughout and lingered on the finish. This bottle would pair nicely with white sauces and buttery fish. 90 points

Oatra Sauvignon Blanc 2014

Ostra Sauvignon BlancLot 18, $18.99

Ostra Sav Blanc on Cellar Tracker

Aaron: Toasted cedar and nutmeg flowered into a hint of brown sugar on the nose of this white.  The flavor was mild and mellow, light but not watered down, and featured a good balance of fruit and nuts.  This wasn’t sweet, nor was it dull.  I felt it was overall a pretty solid wine with some apricot and melon flavors which would compliment most foods.  91 points

Teri: I found this wine different and interesting. The smell of lemongrass and cantaloupe on the nose is a little misleading because the flavors I tasted within the bottle were quite different. Within the wine, I tasted chestnut, lemon, sage, and some stone fruit. Overall the flavors sit wonderfully in the middle of your palate and there is a nice balance between herb and fruit flavors. This wine is not overwhelming in fruity flavors (so if that is what you like, you may want to stay away from this one) but rich in flavor overall. I wonderful bottle to try and one I would enjoy again. 90 points

Quinton Estates Sauvignon Blanc 2013 Reserve

Quinton Sauv Blanc NapaPurchased from Cost Plus World Market, $15.99

Aaron:  This is a great white wine!  Lemon and green apple smell with a full and creamy flavor; much more full than expected for the varietal.  There was a surprising amount of alcoholic residue which was a bit harsh but also a ton of vanilla and pear with white, fleshy fruits which were firm and crisp.  91 points

Teri: This sauvignon blanc is warm and inviting. I was impressed by how easy this wine was to drink but still carried an abundance of flavor. I tasted flavors of nectarine and other stone fruits with a hint of warm honey and vanilla. For the price, this wine is a great buy and will please novice and expert wine lovers alike. 93 points

Mumm Napa Cuvee M

Mumm Napa Cuvee MBevMo, $17.99

Total Wine & More, $17.49

Mumm Website, $22

Purchased from a local grocery (QFC/Kroger), Sale: $16.99 (reg. $22.99)

Aaron:  This was one of my favorite Mumm bottles (I feel they’re normally a bit overrated because of their name).  Pear and white peach on the nose led to a nice, sparkling flavor with tons of cream and vanilla.  A bit of green apple, bark, and white raspberry makes this pretty drinkable and pleasant.  91 points

Teri: Mumm makes it’s Cuvee M a wonderful all around sparkling wine. With it’s hint of sweetness and crisp acidity, this wine is good on it’s own, in a cocktail, or used to balance out spicy dishes. Flavors of peach, fuji apple, honeysuckle, and red pear delight your tastebuds and last from the first sip to the last drop. This bottle is great as a gift, wonderful to accompany a romantic dinner, or perfect to just enjoy on an evening with friends. 90 points
