Silver Mile Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

Lot 18, $18/bottleSilverMile

Vivino Wine Rating

Aaron:  This has tons of tobacco and mushroom on the somewhat metallic nose.  The flavor, however, was smooth and easy drinking with subdued plum, cherry, and black fruits.  This is mild and absent of any bite.  I think of it as fruity tar (That may not sound as appealing as it should).  90 points.

Teri: This is a delicious bottle. Juicy plum and baking spice partner with rich raspberry and sweet oak. It is hearty yet extremely smooth to drink. The smell is even delightful made up of rich nutmeg and chocolate. 90 points

Aaron:  This is a good bottle for an affordable, red blend.  Tobacco was the prominent smell with some black fruits as an afterthought.  The flavor is pretty smooth with a great aftertaste of violets and mushroom.  Very floral with some earthy undertones.  This flavor profile isn’t usually my preference but I enjoyed it.  90 points

Teri:  This red blend has a woody plum nose and medium to large body. Very noticeable tannins that were slightly chunky but good flavors of leather, prune, oak, and some spicy black pepper on the taste. It is still easy to drink but bold. 88 points

Aaron:  This has a huge smell!  Toasted chocolate which ripe (very ripe) strawberries.  Something was highly unique about this, vanilla-coated macadamia nuts which I’ve never experienced before.  Bold and slightly spicy on the finish, this was smooth in the mouth with some mild, lingering tannins at the end.  90 points

Teri: I has some congestion affecting my taste during the time period we tasted this bottle, but i could tell it had a strong peppery nose. A medium finish with flavors of plum and coffee. Full enough to enjoy by itself but calm enough to pair with many meals. 88 points

Aaron:  This is a pretty standard brand and the bottle was nothing to write home about, but good enough to pick up in a pinch.  The oaky, almond-butter nose is reminiscent of traditional chards and the nutty, flavor was slightly sweet but slightly bitter.  Some light fruits, specifically lemon-coated cantaloupe make this very drinkable with only a slight, appropriate bite.  89 points

Teri: Nothing stands out with the smell, but a beautiful buttery orange flavor within the wine with oak that lingers on the mouth. Medium body but full of flavor. This white would hold up to hearty meals and creamy soups. I love the undertone of orange throughout. 90 points for great flavor at a great price.
