Terra Blanca Arch Terrace Cabernet Franc 2012

Terra Blanca Tasting Room, $65

Aaron: Bright strawberries and sunflowers made for a pleasant nose.  The prominent chocolate is surrounded by blueberries and creamy blackberries.  This is very appealing and easy to drink.  Not a lot of earth but a hint of wet tree bark from a hiking trail.  Really good.  91 points

Teri: This is a good medium bodied wine but not something I would drink every day due to the price point. Flavors of currant, mild strawberry, rhubarb, and soft white pepper are prominent but enjoyable. Smooth tannins. 88 points

Aaron: I’m not normally a blend fan but Kiona does it right.  This is fruity and full with vanilla and a nice, nutty finish.  The juicy velvet is pleasant and easy drinking.  This is full, smooth, and full of flavor.  90 points

Teri: Great smell and flavors on this red wine blend. Cherry and strawberry blend with smoke and butter on the finish. Amazon flavor! 91 points.  Complex yet very easy to drink.

Kiona Wine Notes

Wine.com Info

Aaron: Readers will probably start to get tired of us complimenting Kiona bottles, but we like them.  This one had a fruity nose with appropriate oak, followed by some leather and shoe polish.  The taste was blunt and flat with a mellow cherry and grape flavor.  There was no bite at all but subtle tannins to add body.  This wasn’t super complex but was by no means “juice”, it was just easy to drink.  It’s not what I would call a beginner wine, but it’s nice to take a step into something more complex than Menage a Trois.  90 points

Teri: Pleasent red fruit nose followed by the taste of black pepper, leather, blackberry, and oak. This wine is rich in flavor and complex. Delightful to drink with medium bodied and long tannins that linger in your mouth. I would pair this with Italian red sauces or creamy cheeses. 90 points

Aaron: This has a jammy, bold nose full of blackberries.  There are huge tannins and some sharp, splintered bark from dark oak trees.  This is smooth but there’s noticeable pepper on the finish, complemented by lots of cherry and red apple fruits.  90 points

Teri: Fruit forward nose and a full body one the wine. Hearty, semi-heavy tannins are very noticeable but not overbearing. I taste flavors of bing cherry, oak, blueberry, and sage. The wine is very hearty but still easy to drink. Delightful to pair with a steak or other red meats. 92 points
