Wiens Family Cellars Pink Crowded 2012

Purchased from Wiens Family Cellars, $Wiens Pink Crowded 201222

Aaron:  The smell was rosy with berries, light, and airy.  The highly viscous flavor features creamy strawberries and lots of fruit.  Not much earth or oak, just a hint of cocoa on the finish (very very faint).  This is an easy drinking, middle of the road red and great for newbies.  89 points

Teri: This bottle is a winner all around for large gatherings, especially during the summer. With a nice dark ruby blush color and a light smell of strawberry this is refreshing and flavorful. On the lighter side of medium bodied, this wine keeps it light but still has a finish that will linger. It’s an entire picnic of watermelon, cherry, and strawberry that is still light enough for my blush-loving grandparents but complex enough for those who love darker reds. 91 points

Aaron:  This had a bitter, woodsy nose to me but the flavor was buttery.  Slightly sparkly with sweet, white raspberries and golden pear, the taste was complemented by white mushroom rounds which were hard to pick out.  This was pleasant but the taste varies by bottle.  89 points

Teri: With a light lemon-apricot bouquet this white blend takes on many characteristics of the 50% Viognier it contains. Blending nicely with the other 50% of Roussanne you taste many tropical fruits of pineapple and mango with a slight hint of oak. The long lingering finish is cool and refreshing with just a slight hint of caramel. Weins also does a collection of ‘artist series’ bottles making for a beautiful presentation around a great bottle of wine. 88 points

Wiens Family Cellars Dulce Maria NV

Dulce Maria NVDulce Maria in Glass

Purchased from Wiens Family Cellars, $ 22/bottle

Aaron: I noticed white pear and apricot on the nose, followed by a honey, nectar flavor.  There was some mild citrus in the background among tropical fruit and overall this was very sweet.  I felt it was pleasant and drinkable, great for spicy foods, and a winner for those with a sweet tooth.  88 points

Teri: Not much of a smell (only a slight hint of lemon) but amazing flavor! Sweet and semi viscus but not overpowering. I taste flavors of tropical fruits, pineapple, kumquats, and peach. This bottle is one of my favorites. It would be perfect on a hot day or with spicy foods. Great by itself or paired with some cheese. Mmmm….. 92 points

Weins Chardonnay 2013

Weins Chardonnay 2013

Available from Weins Family Cellars, $24

Aaron:  The light, crisp, honeydew was extremely pleasant and the complementing citrus and olive oil notes on the flavor made this very nice.  The smell was sharp and clean and slightly metallic but rounded out with some sugar.  This has a nice body without being overwhelming and makes for a great table wine.  90 points

Teri: Beautiful lemon pie smell with a nice round mouth flavor. Though not all Chardonnay (6% Viognier and 6% Roussane), this Chardonnay has a long, lingering finish of lemon custard, slight butter, and green apple. Great with white meats, fish, and savory salads. 90 points
