Aaron:  This smelled like dark mud … imagine a forest right after a heavy rain.  Black current and lots of tannins made this a bit chalky.  The flavor was decent but very dry … very dry.  89 points

Teri: This wine has a distinct strong alcoholic nose with medium strong tannins. Dark fruits, and minerals in the taste with strong pepper on the finish. The flavor was very tight with chalky tannins and a pepper finish that might pair well with strong foods, but it was overall too tight and needed more distinct qualities. 84 points

Marchesi de Gregorio Nero 2012

Nero Rosso 2012Arrived with the Plonk Wine Club shipment

Aaron:  The incredible smell on this bottle won most of its points from me.  Raspberry, blackberry and vanilla all compete for prominence on the nostrils and lead to tons of fruit.  This was juicy and a little thin, but good and mild.  Could be fuller but overall, not bad.  90 points

Teri: As an organic wine fermented in stainless steal I was surprised by a woodsy/berry smell. With a composition of 70% Nero d’Avola and 30% Syrah, the flavors reflect the use of steal by bringing forward full juicy tastes of blueberry and black cherry. This bottle is medium bodied and very easy to drink, but not too complex. Would be a great place to start for new wine drinkers. 87 points
