Lot 18, $18.49
Aaron: This isn’t super complex, but it tastes pretty good. Honey and melon on the nose, followed by a sweet, syrupy flavor. There is more honey, plus brown sugar on the palate with some peach, making this super easy drinking. 90 points
Teri: Sweet peach and red apple with an almost ‘sticky’ mouth feel. This sparkling wine is good but on the sweeter side. Not too complex. Fruity. 89 points.
Lot 18, $14.99
Aaron: Oaky green apple on the nose. The flavor is tangy but dissipates quickly. Lots of lemongrass and weeds with some interesting sunflower but too tart for me. 87 points
Teri: This white wine has a citrus nose with a light and crisp body. I tasted flavors of white peach and Pez (like the candy). Medium body and a short (but flavorful) finish. Slightly watery but easy to drink. 87 points
Trader Joes, $6.99
Aaron: For $7, not bad. Musty green apple and toasted pear on the nose, followed by a sharp, metallic flavor with spice. This transformed into white grapes and sunflowers (what, you’ve only tasted sunflower seeds!?). 89 points
Teri: For a $7 bottle and the ease of picking this one up from your local Trader Joes, this bottle is a win. I smelled light lemon on the nose with nutty flavors, additional lemon, and a hint of red apple on the taste. This Brut is crisp with good flavor and nice mouthfeel. Great value and cheep enough to have a bottle around for any occasion. 89 points
Lot 18, $14.99
Aaron: This features mango. … Building on that, there was a nutty melon nose with buttery citrus flavor making for a smooth, vanilla and toffee taste. There was a little bit of sour apple at the end but overall this was flooded with the tropical fruit. 90 points
Teri: This was a brand new type of grape I have not tasted prior to this bottle; On first impression, I am a fan. The wine is semi-tart with crisp acidity and smooth flavors of peach and vanilla on the finish. I also tasted flavors of line and stone fruit in the flavor profile with quality lingering flavor after the swallow. Semi-dry and fruit forward, all around wonderful. 90 points.
Splash Wines, $15
Aaron: This was pretty good with green apple and guava on the surprisingly strong nose. The flavor was smooth and creamy with some nuts – mostly almond – and white fruit. I felt this was solid, not “amazing”, but enjoyable. 90 points
Teri: This Chardonnay from Chile is very smooth, easy to drink and bursting with flavor! The peach and honey nose is delightful alongside its medium body and flavors of ripe peach, pineapple, and green apple. There is also a slight undertone of vanilla and honey on the finish. 91 points
